Firefighters swiftly contained the fire's spread, even in the face of strong winds
Orange, California, January 23, 2025 – At 12:25 PM, Orange City Fire was dispatched to a structure fire in the 2000 block of E. Parkside Avenue. Orange Battalion 1 observed significant smoke from the freeway, escalating the incident to a working fire assignment. Upon arrival, Orange Truck 2 discovered a fully engulfed fire at the front of a single-story garage and initiated firefighting efforts while confirming the status of occupants, ultimately determining the residence was unoccupied. Command was established by Orange Battalion 1, which coordinated the response of additional units, assigning Orange Truck 1 to ventilation. Fire crews successfully extinguished the blaze within thirty minutes, preventing it from spreading to a neighboring residence despite challenging wind conditions.
Thirty-five firefighters responded to the scene, with support from the Orange Police Department, Anaheim Fire and Rescue, the Orange County Fire Authority, and Orange County Animal Control. The fire resulted in the displacement of three adults, three children, and one cat, while three cats unfortunately perished in the incident. There were no reported injuries among civilians or firefighters, and the entire operation lasted three hours and thirty-six minutes. The cause of the fire and the estimated damage are currently under investigation.
